MSLabs is a public technical publication. You can read articles without creating an account, submitting a form, or providing your name or email address.
Technical data and hosting
When a page is requested, the hosting and network services may process technical information such as the IP address, request time, requested URL, browser details, and diagnostic events to deliver the site, protect it, and troubleshoot failures. Operational logs and their retention are governed by the hosting and monitoring configuration; MSLabs does not use them to build advertising profiles.
Third-party page resources
The site currently loads some presentation resources from jsDelivr and the Tailwind CDN, and an Azure logo image from OfficeVersions. Those providers receive the usual connection information when your browser requests their resources and apply their own privacy terms. Following an external link also takes you to the destination provider's site.
Cookies and browser storage
Optional Google Analytics 4 is used to measure visits and page views. It is loaded only after you select “Allow analytics”; choosing “Only essential” prevents it from loading. Analytics page views include the page title and path, without query-string parameters. Google may use cookies and process information about your browser and visit; see Google's privacy policy. MSLabs does not use analytics for advertising.
Your choice is stored in a first-party cookie for up to 180 days. You can change or withdraw it at any time using the control below. When you withdraw consent, MSLabs tells the Google tag that analytics storage is denied, stops sending manual page views, and removes Google Analytics cookies accessible to this site. Google Consent Mode may still send cookieless signals when storage is denied; see Google's consent mode documentation. The color-theme preference is stored separately in your browser's local storage.
If the protected Admin area is enabled, sign-in and form-protection flows may use essential, first-party cookies. The Admin authentication cookie is marked Secure and HttpOnly and expires after eight hours; it is used to protect editor access, not for analytics.
Admin editorial workflow
Admin access is restricted to authorized editors and uses the configured identity provider. When an editor submits an article from the Admin editor, its text, metadata, and selected image are sent to the configured GitHub repository as a pull request for review. This workflow is separate from ordinary public browsing.
